1. The Hon’ble Supreme Court in TMA Pai Foundation Vs. the State (2002) 8 SCC 481, Islamic Academy of Education Vs. the State reported in (2003) 6 SCC 697 and PA Inamdar Vs. the State of Maharashtra reported in (2005) 6 SCC 537 held that all institutions imparting same or similar professional education can join together for holding a common entrance test satisfying the triple tests of being fair, transparent and non-exploitative. Accordingly, Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association (KUPECA) comprising of more than 150 Engineering colleges in Karnataka have joined together and have entrusted COMEDK with the responsibility of conducting the entrance examination and seat selection process based on a single common entrance test followed by centralized counselling to students seeking admissions in their member institutions so as to ensure fair and merit based admissions as envisaged in the above judgments.
2. Based on the mandate given by the KUPECA, COMEDK’s Under Graduate Entrance Test for Engineering Courses (UGET – 2020) will be conducted on Sunday the 10th May 2020 (i.e. second Sunday in the month of May) for admission to Engineering Courses in COMEDK member institutions. The test will be Computer Based which will be conducted on All India basis across the Country to facilitate the students to appear in the test closer to their homes and is aimed at minimizing the cost of travel and other logistics.
3. A detailed calendar of events and the information Brochure in this behalf would be hosted on the website (www.comedk.org) in due course. The candidates are required to check the website for all the updates.
4. Eligibility criteria are as follows: The following shall be the eligibility criteria for Engineering and Architecture courses.
a) The candidates should have passed second PUC or 10+2 Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with English as one of the languages and obtained a minimum of 45% Marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer (40% in respect of SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka State) and should have passed these subjects individually. b) An attempt in the COMEDK Entrance Test seeking admission to Engineering courses is considered adequate for figuring in the rank list.
c) Diploma candidates are not eligible to take the Entrance Test as there are no lateral entry admissions.
a) The candidates should have passed an examination at the end of the 10+2 scheme of examination with at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (45% for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka) and also at least 50% marks in aggregate of the 10+2 level examination (45% for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka) or passed 10+3 Diploma examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka) and should have passed these subjects individually.
b) All the candidates (including SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka) seeking admission to B.Arch. shall pass the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture or JEE Paper – 2. Qualification in NATA is subject to the candidate getting at least cut-off marks in two individual components and also getting at least the qualifying marks in aggregate.
c) (i) There shall be no Entrance Test for candidates seeking admission to B. Arch Course.
(ii) Candidates seeking B. Arch course shall submit separate application for participation in the Counseling.
Note: Notwithstanding the eligibility criteria mentioned as above, the changes, if any, prescribed by AICTE, COA or any other competent Regulatory Authorities, before the start of rank generation process of COMEDK, will be adopted. After generating the ranks, no changes will be made to the already prescribed eligibility criteria.
